How It Works

WP AI Chatbot

How the website-trained chatbot works

WP AI Chatbot adds an Ask AI assistant to WordPress websites. It answers from approved website pages and priority business information, captures support leads, and only appears when the site has an active subscription or free trial.

Setup flow

From install to live chatbot in four steps

The plugin is designed so a website owner can install it, subscribe, choose the most important content, and launch the chatbot without managing a separate AI server.

1

Install the plugin

Upload and activate WP AI Chatbot from the WordPress dashboard.

2

Subscribe securely

Choose monthly or annual billing. Stripe handles the card details.

3

Select knowledge

Pick important pages, add custom URLs, and add any private service notes.

4

Launch Ask AI

The frontend widget appears on allowed pages once access is active or trialing.

Dashboard settings

Set the business details visitors need most

The settings screen controls the business name, phone number, booking link, support email, widget colors, and the default AI endpoint.

  • Check that the phone number is correct because it is used when the chatbot cannot answer.
  • Set the booking or quote URL so the chatbot can send visitors to the right page.
  • Keep the widget enabled after the subscription is active.
  • Review the default AI endpoint, model, and API key or replace them with your own.

Knowledge base

Tell the chatbot where answers should come from

Instead of crawling everything, WP AI Chatbot uses the pages and URLs the owner approves. This keeps answers focused and avoids irrelevant content.

  • Select pages such as Services, Pricing, FAQs, Contact, Booking, and Location pages.
  • Add homepage, archive, shop, or dynamic page URLs when they do not appear in the page picker.
  • Add priority content for details that are not published on the website.
  • Click Re-index after changing selected pages, URLs, or important content.

Subscription

The chatbot only shows when access is active

The Subscription screen confirms whether the website is trialing, active, cancelled, or expired. It also shows whether the frontend widget should be visible.

  • Monthly plan is $5/month and annual plan is $45/year.
  • New subscribers receive a 7-day free trial.
  • If a customer reinstalls the plugin, they can enter the same subscription email to reconnect.
  • If the frontend widget row does not say visible, follow the message shown there.

Frontend experience

Visitors see a lightweight Ask AI button

The chatbot is lazy-loaded to protect page speed. The full chat window loads after a click, scroll, interaction, or short delay, so core website content stays fast.

Short website-grounded answers

The chatbot summarises answers from approved knowledge instead of pasting long page text.

Clickable links and phone numbers

Booking URLs, recommended pages, and phone numbers are clickable inside the chat.

Human-support capture

If the chatbot cannot answer, visitors can leave their name, email, phone, and message.

SEO-conscious loading

The widget stays outside the critical rendering path to reduce impact on Core Web Vitals.

Before launching, check the Subscription screen, enable the widget, set display mode to Every page unless you need targeting, then test the homepage and one inner page in a private browser window.
